After revealing the ILX Concept at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January, Acura has quickly followed it up with the production version at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. Carrying the same ILX name, the new sedan will be offered with a choice of two different engines, as well as a Hybrid version for those with a particular love for the environment.
The Acura ILX addresses the young buyers that are looking for their first luxury vehicle. Acura has promised the ILX will be a cheaper alternative to models like the Buick Verano and the Audi A3.“First-time luxury buyers tend to place a high value on exterior styling, affordability and environmental issues, and that’s what we have created with the new Acura ILX,” said Jon Ikeda, head of the Acura Design Studio. “The strategy behind this new model is to position ILX as the first opportunity for many young buyers to enter the luxury market.”
UPDATE 04/20/2012: Acura has announced prices for the 2013 ILX set to arrive in dealerships on May 22, 2012. Prices will range from $25,900 for the base version and will go up to $34,400 for the ILX Hybrid equipped with Technology Package. Hit the jump to check out full pricing details.
The anticipated reveal of the replacement for the Acura RL has finally made its debut at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. The all-new Acura RLX will make its production debut in early-2013, as a 2014 model year, giving Honda’s luxury lineup a head start for 2014.
We were all starting to wonder exactly what was in store for the RLX, since Acura announced its debut. Some of the questions that arose were around its power plant and whether or not this would simply be a restyled RL with an “X” on the end of its nameplate.Acura answered all of those pertinent questions and then some at the auto show, as it pulled the sheet off of the new RLX and surprised everyone with a vehicle that bears little to no resemblance to its predecessor, something Honda Motor Company does not typically do. For the most part, Hondas tend to evolve rather slowly, with the exception of the latest Civic model, and rarely do we see big-time changes.
This all-new sedan is set to do battle with two newly redesigned imports, both of which debuted at the same auto show. On one side, you have the completely refreshed Toyota Avalon and on the other side, you have the redesigned Lexus ES 300h.
Can the RLX possibly fend off these two sister vehicles?
Now that we have seen the official images of the Acura NSX Coupe, everyone is expecting a roadster version for the sports car. This will surely happen in the near future considering Acura has already filed a patent for a roadster’s design, but until the production NSX Roadster shows up in 2014, we get another opportunity to take a gander at its design.
Acura has just officially unveiled the one-off NSX model that will be driven by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in the new “Avengers” movie. This new sports car is a $9million project, and this is the first official image of the concept!The concept is powered by a palladium-powered 80,000 TOHC 32-valve engine with titanium-forged block and nitrous fuel-injection system combined with a 9-Speed HYPER-Shift transmission. There aren’t any details on the engine’s output, but the concept can achieve 234 mpg in city traffic and 302 mpg on the highway. Now that’s efficiency!
The exterior of the concept shows off an underbody kit with an aero-dynamic spoiler lip and black-night painted-wheels with particle matter technology. Since this is a superhero movie car, it was also equipped with plenty of defensive systems like advanced radar-deflecting capabilities with wave modifier, a bullet and foreign element-proof clear coat, and metal skin and bulletproof hyper-traction tires.

A few days ago, a group of patent drawings were released of the upcoming Acura NSX Roadster, but those weren’t nearly enough. Based on those drawings, we have come up with our own rendering of the future drop top sports car. As previously reported, the Roadster version will look very much like the car that will be featured in the upcoming Avengers movie, except for the roof. The Roadster model will feature the same aggressive design language as the coupe, with a low windscreen and an aggressively-shaped rear deck lid. Under the hood, it will feature Acura’s innovative Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) system that combines a unique 2 Electric Motor Drive Unit with a bilateral torque adjustable control system, allowing the car to instantly generate negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering.
If built, the new NSX Roadster will be revealed sometime in 2014, a year after the coupe version is scheduled to debut.
